We are well-aware of the fact that there are plenty of existing comparison and benchmark reviews out there and making another one may seem futile.<\/p>\n<p>As such, we have developed a method for automatic benchmark testing made possible with our very own Soflab Mobile Lab. We have done our best to ensure that the&nbsp;tests were conducted under a controlled environment for the various test samples. Every step in the process is subsequently measured and recorded in our database.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/X_vqnUrwymk\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Our approach is focused on&nbsp;optimizing&nbsp;the accuracy and objectivity in&nbsp;the series of side-to-side comparisons through the use of automation, where every step is logged and repeated with exact precision and all anomalies are accounted for. We deploy automated scripts that simulate real-life user actions (i.e. Opening an app and entering text to indicted forms). Besides replaying user actions over our sample size, precise time measurements of each respective executed action is also recorded and logged in our database for further analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Our approach has several important advantages.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, we are able to accurately determine the time taken for each task, unlike conventional comparison videos. In those cases, viewers would have to figure out which device is faster by mere physical observation.<\/p>\n<p>As we are able to repeat our tests in a controlled environment, external variables such as human error or bias will not affect the outcome of the respective tests. Every single test run is executed in nearly identical conditions. As such, a speed test has been performed for both the older version as well as after the software update.<\/p>\n<p>The initiation&nbsp;for the test was to bring both phones to default settings and apps installation. As far as possible, icon positions and the number of applications are controlled to be as identical as possible. The Samsung S8 was powered by Exynos 8895 CPU and its predecessor. Meanwhile,&nbsp;the S7 was using the Exynos 8890. Trimmers start running at the exact same moment that action is performed and the object is located by automation. Moreover, we had chosen an automation engine with a low impact on the testing device and a low data exchange between the testing device and computer on which tests were prepared in order to eliminate latency as far as possible. A combination between computer and device was very important for us because the S8 has a USB type-C that&nbsp;is faster than the S7 micro USB.<\/p>\n<p>Another important aspect that needs clarification is that we had added a fixed 1-second \u201csimulated thinking time\u201d at the end of every test step. This was to calibrate with&nbsp;the \u201cmachine-like\u201d abilities of the automation engine in order to simulate a real-life scenario,&nbsp;preventing steps from being&nbsp;performed instantaneously with no delay.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Test Results<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Test results are presented in the charts below. These values are the arithmetic mean of 90% of all 100 results. We have discarded 10% of the extreme results in each sample.
