It presents an analysis of how to successfully automate testing processes in large organizations, based on a specific case of deployment in Centrum e-Zdrowia (e-Health Center, CeZ). In order to achieve effective test automation, the priority was to develop an environment that would enable frequent and safe deployment in multiple parallel projects,<\/strong> while ensuring the highest quality and reliability of the modified systems. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n The organization responsible for implementation of strategic IT projects in the Polish healthcare system faced the challenge of modernizing its approach to software testing. The scale of CeZ’s operations is really impressive \u2013 the portfolio includes over 50 key systems,<\/strong> including such strategic solutions as online patient accounts, e-prescription system, e-referral platform, mojeIKP application and comprehensive medical registers.<\/strong><\/strong><\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n Testing automation is not just a technology, but a key component of quality assurance strategies in complex IT environments. In such projects as digitization of health services, effectiveness of testing is primarily influenced by accurate process planning, and not just selection of tools. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n Soflab Technology supports organizations in developing effective testing processes, adapted to the scale and specifics of their systems. Reporting and effectiveness:<\/strong><\/p>\n A key element of automation success lies in precise identification of the challenges present in the organization and their prioritization. That was the case also for CeZ, where we jointly diagnosed three main issues: <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n In addition, CeZ employs experts with extensive know-how of all projects implemented in the organization, and at the same time, of the benefits and challenges of test automation. Based on the specifics of the organization and varying requirements and expectations of individual projects, we found four aspects to be crucial: <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n 1. Centralization of processes and competences \u2013 a hybrid model<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n A central test-automation team was created, with a single manager, which became the decision-making body in terms of testing automation, and now determines the direction of its development across the organization. The team is primarily responsible for development of the framework and runtime environment, and also provides comprehensive support in the process of deployment of new approach in individual projects. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n The team works also with a group of automation specialists involved in individual projects, with relevant technical and business know-how enabling deployment of developed solutions in their projects. Due to the number of projects and their diversity, development and maintaining of all scripts within one central team might be a major challenge \u2013 therefore we chose the model commonly known as a hybrid model. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n 2. Application of the open-source software testing tools <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Centrum e-Zdrowia had previously used open-source automation and some of the scopes were already covered with the test scripts. In addition, the scope of applications, as well as their development technologies, enabled use of Selenium without any damage to test coverage or E2E processes. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n It is worth noting that the CeZ had already had competence in this area, and some of the scripts could have been easily implemented into the new approach. As a result, we significantly reduced the deployment costs and ensured the continuity of automation in projects that had used it earlier. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n 3. Modular framework<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Modularity enables higher flexibility and freedom to implement only the necessary modules. This allowed for the systematic deployment of our solution in various projects while reducing and evenly distributing the work of project teams. The teams also made independent decisions regarding the time and order of implementation of individual modules. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n Flexible deployment of our solutions had a positive impact on the perception of our approach and the solutions themselves. Their real benefits were truly appreciated, without imposing any rigidly set standards. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\nWe could take up the challenge after winning the QA partnership competition for the development of P1 platform systems. Selection of Soflab Technology by our Client confirmed our experience and competence in performing the Enterprise-scale tests. <\/h3>\n
